6.1.3: Trends... Disturbing and otherwise

Good Afternoon everybody....
Of late a lot of things have been happening on campus... and off it too.....

Robolabs 2006.1 is going on in full swing... and though Mr. Khakhor might have wearied the Robolabs team, but the overall response of the participants has been very encouraging, to say the least. Future Robolabs will definitely be held... as has been decided - seeing that most of the budding bot-builders just needed a prod in the right direction...

SPOWDY... hmm... No comments.
Prep for Drishtant is going on in full swing... Registration for the workshops is almost over I guess..... This time there are 'packages' for registration...
  • Rs 300 for both the Workshops and all the events of Drishtant
  • Rs 250 for the 'Network Security and Hacking' workshop, and all other events of Drishtant, except the 'Maya' workshop
  • Rs 100 for the 'Maya' workshop, and all other events except 'Network.....' workshop
  • Rs 75 for just the events of Drishtant, no workshops
  • Rs 50 for any 5 events

This brings us to the first disturbing trend in full flow... People who are helping out with the mundane or peripheral taks of Drishtant should not act as if they are organising Drishtant on their own. And they should take care not to put down people/events that are not theirs. Just because the IEEE events (Zeitgeist'06), or the Architectural Seminars(one held at Capitol Hill, quite lavishly hosted by the generous Jharkhand government) are not being organised by the IEE doesn't mean that these people... absolute riff-raff ... start saying...
'Ohhh... yeh technical thode hi hai?'... or things like...
'No Zit or git can ever organise events at a short notice...'
The core of Drishtant should take strict notice of this... for this will lead to ugly scenes during the events...

The second trend is these mock tests and GDs... people are flocking to each others' rooms, practising.. or else they are staying cooped up in their own rooms... poring over books that flash out names like 'GRE' , 'GMAT', 'CAT', ad nauseum.

The Scrutiny forms have been filled... wonder if the F*s will be converted to Ds or Cs....
There was an interview that I appeared for as part of P-SAT (Placement Simualtor Aptitute Test)... after scraping 21 marks outta 60 in the apti test... (the tech section was of quie a good level, mind you)
Was fun... the frizzy-haired girl asked me questions like: 'Being a mechanical engineer, why do you want to go in for the IT industry?'
'Do you want to go in for an MS or an MBA?' upon choosing the latter, she further quizzed me: 'Don't you think you'd be doing injustice to your talents?' Was she insistent upon me doing an MS...!
All in all I had a good time... When asked 'Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?' my reply was,'I dunno. I don't have enough GPA for that.'

Wi-Fi Net rocks!!! Download speeds are amazing.. the 160kbps download speed is total bullshit... it is actually 160KBps!!! I downloaded a 9.2 MB file in less than 25 secs... I'm currently downloading a movie 'City of Angels'.... Should be over in 30 mins.. i guess....

See you all later....
